At Wangui Kuria & Co. Advocates, we firmly believe that access to justice is a fundamental human right — not a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. Our firm is deeply committed to giving back to the community through a robust pro bono programme that provides free and subsidised legal services to individuals and organisations who would otherwise be unable to access legal representation.
Our pro bono work is guided by the conviction that every person deserves equal treatment under the law, regardless of their financial circumstances. We dedicate a portion of our time and resources every year to serving the most vulnerable in our community.
Through our Community Legal Aid Programme, we partner with civil society organisations, community-based groups, and non-governmental organisations to identify individuals and families in need of legal assistance. Our advocates provide free legal advice, representation in court, and assistance with legal documentation in areas including:
Assisting individuals facing unlawful evictions, land grabbing, and disputes over inheritance and property ownership rights.
Providing legal support in matters of domestic violence, child custody, maintenance, and protection of vulnerable families.
Representing indigent accused persons who are unable to afford legal representation, ensuring their constitutional right to a fair trial is upheld.
Advising workers on their employment rights, assisting with unlawful dismissal claims, and advocating for fair labour practices.
Working with human rights defenders and marginalized communities to challenge violations of constitutional rights and freedoms.
Conducting free community outreach seminars and legal literacy workshops to empower citizens with knowledge of their legal rights.
Wangui Kuria & Co. Advocates' dedication to community justice extends beyond individual casework. We actively engage with legal aid clinics, law school partnerships, and community forums to address systemic barriers to justice. Our advocates devote a meaningful proportion of their professional time to pro bono matters, in keeping with the professional obligations and ethical standards of the Law Society of Kenya.
We actively collaborate with the Legal Aid Service Providers Network and other stakeholders to ensure our pro bono efforts are impactful, well-coordinated, and reach the communities that need it most.
If you or someone you know requires legal assistance but cannot afford legal fees, you are encouraged to reach out to us. We will assess your matter and, where eligible, provide free or subsidised legal services. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are subject to our capacity at any given time.
